Bargain: New Look’s Black Platform Court Shoes

Hey guys!

So, the other day I was thinking to myself: “What else can I post about as well as Tutorials and Reviews?” and came up with my own category: Bargains. This topic suits me PERFECTLY as I am a massive bargain hunter and will almost never buy any clothes or shoes at full price. I love sales, especially clearance sales as the store wants to clear out everything in stock so they drastically reduce the prices before fresh merchandise arrives, which makes me a very happy girl. If you are like me – a teenager girl who is struggling to find a job – then these Bargain posts that I’m starting will hopefully help you find all your essentials (or desires) at a cheap price!

Anyway, I found myself wandering around the shoe section in New Look. Many of the shoes on sale were high heels or wedge heels priced at £5. Eventually, I came across these beauties:

They were originally £19.99 but were reduced to only £5!
At only a quarter of the recommended retail price, I definitely call these pair of heels a great bargain!
In my opinion, products from New Look are always good quality for reasonable prices, that is why I bought these in the sale when I had the chance, especially because I have tiny feet and can never find shoes that fit me.

The heels have a soft leather-look finish to them which gives them a bit of a shine in daylight.

These court heels have a small platform on them, only about half an inch high, which gives the person wearing them a little extra height.
Due to the platform sole, the heels come to a total of 4.5 inches tall.
ShoeCollageFeatheredDreams©They are super comfortable to wear, yet at times it is hard to balance in them due to the thin heel.
The fact that they are plain black means that they go with almost anything. I believe every girl should own at least one pair of black heels, because they are the ‘go-to’ shoes if you are stuck on what to wear and the match with most colours!

So there you have it! My new pair of court shoes from New Look.
I absolutely love them and cannot wait to wear them out.
As I previously said, I hope these Bargain posts that I am beginning to do will help those who are trying to look fashionable yet watch their pennies!

Thank you so much for reading this and I hope you found this helpful! Feel free to share your thoughts and leave your comments in the box below! Or leave me with any requests and I’ll happily do them! See you next time! Bye!

Tutorial: How To Do A Twist Braid

Hey guys!

So, today I’m going to show you how to do a twist braid. I figured this braid out myself one day when I was just experimenting with my hair. I then found out that it was already a known thing that goes by the name ‘twist braid’. I am in love with this simple way of tying back your fringe as it is easy to do yet looks stunning, especially with curly hair. This technique can be done with straight or curly hair (my hair was curly to start with, but I straightened my fringe and brushed out my curls for this tutorial).

So without further ado, let’s get started!

Start with your hair down, no clips, no bobbles. Here, you can choose whether to straighten your hair or not – it’s really up to you. As I already mentioned above, I straightened my fringe, just because I felt like doing so.

Take a section from your fringe off of your parting and split it in half. I have numbered the sections in order to help you through this tutorial. The back section is Section #1 and the front section is #2.

Pull #2 towards your parting and pull #1 in the opposite direction. Then rotate them so that #2 is facing upward and #1 is facing downward. (In simpler terms, bring #1 to the front.)

Drop #1 (if it is easier). Take another small section from the rest of your fringe and add it to #1.

Repeat Steps Two, Three and Four. Remember to add a piece of hair after each twist!

When you are happy with the result, secure the braid with a bobby pin or two (preferably the same colour as your hair). I also added a beautiful clip from ‘Accessorize’ to finish the look.

It is important to note: practice makes perfect!
I love this hair technique so much as it is easy and only takes a manner of minutes to do. It is perfect if you are in a rush and need to tie back your fringe! You can change the look by taking bigger or smaller sections to make the braid the size you want and add cute accessories to complete the look, maybe a small bow, or a flower… it’s up to you!

Apologies that my photographs were not very good, I screenshot them from the video I made. If you want to see the video tutorial I made, please ask and I’ll put it up!

Thank you so much for reading this and I hope you use the opportunity to experiment different techniques on your hair to see what suits you the most! Feel free to share your thoughts and leave your comments in the box below! See you next time! Bye!

Tutorial: How To Clean Your White Converse (Canvas) Shoes

Hey guys! I apologise I haven’t been able to do anything lately – I have been at a summer scheme for the last week or so and just haven’t got the time to get on – but here I am!

So today I’m doing a tutorial on how to clean your white Converse shoes. This method is so simple and only takes a short period of time to do!

Everybody has a favourite ‘go-to’ pair of shoes that we will wear regularly. And there is no point denying that the shoes slowly, but surely, get mucky, ripped and worn down soles. I have had my white Converse shoes for about a year and a half now and although I’ve cleaned them before, they just seem to get increasingly filthy over time. Finally, I gave in and decided to give my old Converse a good wash!

N.B. The shoes in these pictures look a lot dirtier in real life. Also, because they have been worn constantly for a long period of time, some of the marks are permanent and are never going to disappear.

What you will need:
Bowl etc.
1. Bowl containing luke-warm water   2. Plain bar of soap   3. Old toothbrush   4. Toothpaste

Remove the laces from the shoes and put them in an old/dirty pair of socks. Do this by stuffing the shoe laces into one sock then, take the other sock, put them beside each other and proceed to fold one into the other like so:SocksThe reason the laces are put into a pair of socks is because we are going to put them into the washing machine and you don’t want them to get lost or damaged during this process.

While your laces are being washed, take your pair of shoes and soak them in cold water – this makes Step Three a lot easier. It is important you use cold water as heat could possibly deform the rubber soles of the shoes (and we don’t want that, do we?!)
Cold Water

Personally, I find this step the most fun! Take your bar of soap and toothbrush, dip the soap into the luke-warm water and start moving the toothbrush over the soap in circular movements until it has has transferred onto the bristles of the toothbrush.

Work this soapy consistency into the canvas part of the shoe. Remember to scrub everywhere, including the sides, back and the tongue. (Here, you can also wash the rubber parts, but this is optional as they are concentrated on in the next step anyway.)

Put some toothpaste onto the toothbrush and scrub the rubber parts of your converse shoes. (Nail Polish Remover is another option as it has been said to be fix scuff marks too.) Again, don’t forget the front, back and both sides when doing this.

Next, wash the shoes under cold water to get rid of any excess soap and toothpaste. Make sure they are thoroughly rinsed as you don’t want your shoes having dried up soap on them – you can ensure this by using the toothbrush whilst rinsing.

Squeeze out any excess water with your hands as best as you can, then leave them outside to air-dry, preferably in the sun-light, and hang the tongues out the opposite way – simple!
(I found leaving them on the grass a little risky so try leaving them to dry on something a little higher than ground-level!)
993607_408657185918093_156433855_nWarning: They may take up to a day to dry, but don’t be tempted to throw them in the tumble dryer – it may only cause more damage to the shoe.

This is only my way of cleaning my Converse, and as I mentioned previously, these shoes will always have some irreversible marks. Also, a gleaming white pair of shoes aren’t guaranteed from this method of mine as it only cleans most of the dirt off the Converse. Many people prefer to put their Converse in the washing machine at a low temperature and that may be another option for you to try!

Unfortunately, I do not have a photo of the end result, but I will upload one shortly.

Thank you so much for reading this and I hope I have inspired you to whip out your toothbrushes and experiment with your worn-out shoes that beg to be new again! Feel free to share your thoughts and leave your comments in the box below! See you next time! Bye!

(A big thank you to my friend Rachel for letting me use her camera for this tutorial.)

Review: Garnier Pure Active Intensive Charcoal Scrub

Hey guys! So today, I’m going to do a review on a product I recently started using for my facial imperfections.

My face has been suffering from spots and blackheads over the past year now and, for me, it is very difficult to find the right skin products to keep the breakouts at bay. I don’t wear any make-up and I keep my hair out of my face as much as possible, even when sleeping. I’ve learnt from past experiences that picking at your skin is not going to do any good as it will only make the acne come back worse and leave scars. So, I recently starting hunting for a facial scrub, and discovered the Garnier Pure Active Intensive Charcoal Scrub.

The scrub is normally £4.99 in most pharmacies such as Boots, Superdrug etc., yet I picked it up in Asda for only £3!

What it contains:

Charcoal: This absorbs excess sebum and any other impurities.

Salicylic Acid: This causes the skin cells to shed faster, opening clogged pores, neutralising bacteria inside then avoids pores getting clogged up again.

Micro-beads: These helps spots and marks fade, deeply cleanse the skin and remove impurities.

The scrub is exfoliating, helps protect against spots and reduces the appearance of marks over time.

The scrub has the consistency of a thick gel where the micro-beads and charcoal particles are clearly visible. The product should be applied to wet skin (I normally like to wet my face with warm water as this opens the pores) and should be massaged gently around the face, paying special attention to the forehead, nose and chin, as these areas are highly prone to imperfections. When foamy, rinse off with water (I prefer to rinse off with luke-warm water and then cold water, because cold water closes the pores and avoids bacteria re-entering). These instructions are provided on the back of the tube.

This scrub is for oily to spot-prone skin, yet is not recommended for dry and sensitive skin.

The packaging of this product is a simple ‘squeeze-out’ tube. The colours on it include blue, red and black which are masculine colours. In addition, the scrub smells very refreshing and gives off quite a manly scent. In fact, Garnier is trying to encourage more men, as well as women, to use skin care products and this scrub is especially aimed at men. Skin care has always been associated with women as they tend to wear make-up. However, I believe more men should understand that it is important to look after their skin and should not be embarrassed to use products like this particular one.

  • Reduces the appearance of spots and helps marks fade.
  • Very refreshing after use.
  • Easy to apply.
  • Very affordable – at only £4.99 retail price!
  • Aimed towards men.

  • Not suitable for sensitive or dry skin.
  • May need patience as it takes a while before it begins to work – like many other facial products.

Overall: Personally, I am very happy with this product and have seen a difference in my skin already after only one week!

Thanks for reading this review and I hoped it helped! I enjoyed writing it and sharing my opinion. Feel free to show your thoughts on this product in the comment box below! See you next time!
